Waste mapping in the rivers of Gjakova / Kosovo and Kukes / Albania

About the project

Mapping of solid waste across all rivers and water streams within the municipalities of Gjakova (Kosovo) and Kukës (Albania). The project aimed to identify pollution sources in local waterways, providing essential data to guide waste management strategies and strengthen environmental protection efforts.

Additionally, it fostered cross-border cooperation between the two municipalities to promote cleaner and healthier water resources.

River Drini Day

During 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 in cooperation with partner organizations from Albania, marked the International Drini River Day. The aim of the activities was to raise awareness and educate young people, national and local cross-border authorities, as well as to encourage cooperation in protection from pollution and erosion, preservation of diversity and development of forms of monitoring of the Drini River basin, which is part of the natural heritage of Kosovo and Albania.

Active Youth = Sustainable Development

Building partnerships with students and teachers to introduce the basic principles of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through non-curricular activities in Istog Municipality. This approach aimed to raise awareness and foster a deeper understanding of sustainability, empowering students and teachers to integrate SDG principles, including SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) into their daily lives and school activities.

Protests for river Protection

As a grassroots environmental advocacy organization, we organized, supported, and mobilized community actions in close cooperation with other CSOs in Peja. These efforts culminated in the historic mass protest on February 25, 2019. This powerful civic mobilization successfully stopped strategic investment plans to build devastating small hydropower facilities along the Lumbardhi River within the protected Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park.
