A green and clean Kosovo, built with its people.
Rilindja Gjelbër is a community-based environmental organisation. We advocate, educate and cooperate to protect the air, water, soil and places we share.
The civil society organisation with the most significant contribution to the circular economy in the Western Balkans.
Awarded by the Western Balkans Circular Economy Hub with the Chambers of Commerce of all six countries.
Quality Management System certified by TÜV NORD CERT (ISO 9001:2015).
European Solidarity Corps Quality Label as a supporting and receiving organisation, valid to the end of 2027.
National and international networks, four of which we helped found.
Fourteen years, one direction.
From citizen clean-ups in Peja in 2012 to a regional leader in the circular economy, the work has grown without losing its roots in the community.
Three pillars, one vision.
Everything we run sits under one of three programmes, and under one principle: leave no one behind.

A Green and Clean Kosovo
We advocate, educate and cooperate for the protection of the environment.
Environmental education and awareness
School gardens, water-quality equipment in 22 schools, field trips and youth exchanges across the region.
Advocacy for stronger environmental policy
Policy briefs, monitoring of the national water strategy, municipal regulations, and the 2019 protest that stopped small hydropower plants on the Lumbardhi river.
Circular economy and social entrepreneurship
A textile-waste collection system, the 3R thrift shop, the RE-KO platform and Kosovo’s first Circular Economy Fair.
Leave no one behind
Our programmes are open to everyone, whatever their gender, age, background, disability, ethnicity or home. Young people are our main target group.
Six areas of environmental work.
Water
Preventing pollution, protecting rivers and making clean water a right for every community.
Air
Continuous air-quality monitoring, public real-time displays and local air quality plans.
Soil
Protecting and restoring land, mapping green spaces and reviving polluted and degraded areas.
Waste
Cleaning up, separating at source and building recycling that keeps working after the project ends.
Energy
Energy audits, rational use and clean, sustainable sources, including positive energy districts.
Biodiversity
Protecting ecosystems and natural monuments, with a special focus on national parks.
What we are building now.
Circular-Textile-Balkans
Kosovo’s first public model for managing textile waste, run from a Circular Economy Creative Center with the Municipality of Pristina.
Deploy-PED
A Horizon Europe project on Positive Energy Districts. Gjakova joins as a replicator city, with 18 European partners and Rilindja Gjelbër working with renewable energy communities.
The Return of Values in Circular Economy
The re-ko.org platform, textile-sector research, sustainable fashion collections, podcasts and the Western Balkans Circular Economy Fair.
TRAILITAGE
Kosovo–Montenegro cooperation that joins the heritage of Gjakova and Berane into one tourism offer, with a cross-border mountain bike route.
Eco-Loop-Gen
Workshops and economic opportunities for young people and women entrepreneurs in Gjakova, on sustainability and the circular economy.
RE-KO
A platform, a fair and a conversation about moving Kosovo from take-make-dispose to reuse, repair and recycle.
- re-ko.org, the online circular economy platform
- Research on waste management in the textile sector
- Sustainable fashion collections made from textile waste
- The Western Balkans Circular Economy Fair, now in its second edition
