In cooperation with local media, the project aimed to raise citizens' awareness and empower civil society, media, and local governments to build partnerships that promote environmental rights as fundamental human rights.
By fostering collaboration across these sectors, the project highlighted the importance of environmental protection in ensuring public health and well-being, while advocating for stronger policies and concrete actions.
Promoting Circular Economy practices, particularly within the textile industry, by encouraging the adoption of circular principles focused on reducing waste through recycling and reusing materials, as opposed to the traditional 'take-make-dispose' linear model. As part of the project, an online Circular Economy platform re-ko.org was created, along with research assessing waste management practices in the textile sector. The initiative also included the creation of sustainable fashion collections, organization of the Western Balkans Circular Economy Fair, and an awareness campaign featuring e-newsletters, podcasts, best practices, success stories, and short videos to promote circular economy concepts. The project is building capacities of the textile industry in waste management and the application of circular economy principles in production operations. Additionally, a Circular Economy Book a flagship activity will be published to further support the transition to sustainable green business practices in Kosovo and Western Balkans.
Improving waste management services in Peja Municipality through active citizen involvement and the incorporation of their perspectives. This approach aimed to increase community participation in waste management practices, raise awareness about proper waste disposal, and ensure that local waste management solutions are more effective and responsive to community needs.
As a grassroots environmental advocacy organization, we organized, supported, and mobilized community actions in close cooperation with other CSOs in Peja. These efforts culminated in the historic mass protest on February 25, 2019. This powerful civic mobilization successfully stopped strategic investment plans to build devastating small hydropower facilities along the Lumbardhi River within the protected Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park.
