Building youth capacities in environmental civic engagement through cross-cultural experiences involving Kosovo, Albania, and North Macedonia. The initiative empowered young people to develop sustainable solutions to the environmental challenges facing the Western Balkans, both now and in the future.
It emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in addressing shared environmental issues and encouraged youth-led initiatives that drive positive change across the region.
The project aims to raise awareness and empower youth and women entrepreneurs in the Municipality of Gjakova regarding sustainable development, the circular economy, and environmental protection. By delivering capacity building workshops, concrete economic opportunities and fostering active civic participation in sustainable practices, the initiative directly drives local innovation and enhances the overall socio-economic well-being of the community.
Enhancing active social participation and fostering exchanges among youth from Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia, while strengthening their capacities in environmental protection and management. Through collaboration and knowledge-sharing, the project aimed to equip young people with the skills and awareness needed to address environmental challenges in the region, fostering a sense of shared responsibility and commitment to sustainable development.
As part of this project, school gardens have been created in the schoolyards of the Municipality of Peja, offering students practical learning experiences in gardening, sustainability and environmental management. These gardens serve as outdoor classrooms, promoting ecological awareness, and fostering a connection with nature among young students. The project was implemented in several phases during 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2021.
