Transparency of the Construction Permits in Western Kosovo

About the project

Increased the transparency of six municipalities (Peja, Gjakova, Deçan, Istog, Klina, and Junik) by monitoring the publication of issued construction permits on municipal websites. The project also evaluated the environmental impact of construction activities, ensuring municipal compliance with environmental regulations, and promoting accountability in urban development.

These efforts aimed to enhance public awareness and participation in sustainable urban planning.

Empowering Environmental Civil Society Organizations in Kosovo

Promoting Circular Economy practices, particularly within the textile industry, by encouraging the adoption of circular principles focused on reducing waste through recycling and reusing materials, as opposed to the traditional 'take-make-dispose' linear model. As part of the project, an online Circular Economy platform re-ko.org was created, along with research assessing waste management practices in the textile sector. The initiative also included the creation of sustainable fashion collections, organization of the Western Balkans Circular Economy Fair, and an awareness campaign featuring e-newsletters, podcasts, best practices, success stories, and short videos to promote circular economy concepts. The project is building capacities of the textile industry in waste management and the application of circular economy principles in production operations. Additionally, a Circular Economy Book a flagship activity will be published to further support the transition to sustainable green business practices in Kosovo and Western Balkans.

Raising awareness about the protection of natural resources and advocating for a ban on the construction of small hydropower plants in Kosovo. A short video was produced to visually illustrate the environmental damage caused by these projects, emphasizing their negative impact on local ecosystems and communities. Additionally, the campaign included a public letter addressed to national authorities, calling for stronger environmental protection measures within national parks. The initiative aimed to inform the public about the long-term consequences of such developments and to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives for energy production.
